if you’ve already watched the video above, i don’t really need to tell you anything about Etta. the woman had soul. she truly used her voice as an instrument. she growls and yells and rolls and be-bops with amazing range and ease.
James struggled most of her life with a heroine dependency, also developing a problem with pain pills in her later years. she suffered a myriad of health problems over the last few years, and i’m glad she’s now at peace.
